Pick-Up and Drop-Off of Items on Campuses
Posted 5/21/20

We are ready to provide information on how students/families can safely arrange to pick up items they left at school and return items that belong to the District. Your individual school site will be sending you an email with detailed information, but we wanted to lay out the general procedure and process that applies to all sites.

The delivery and retrieval of items will take place starting Tuesday, May 26th. Your school site will provide details by email with exact dates and times. Please carefully follow these guidelines and expectations.

With respect to laptops, if you are currently using a District-issued laptop and are returning to a school in the District in the fall, you should keep your laptop for use over the summer. If you are not returning to a District school next year, please return your laptop, along with other items which belong to the District, including books, supplies, hot spots, etc.

While there is a long list of items that may need to be returned, we are offering the following examples to help trigger your memory as you begin to gather things from the variety of places where they may be stored (cars, living room sofas, under beds, etc.) at home.

Items for return to the SRVUSD:

  • School library books

  • Teacher classroom library books

  • Classroom supplies/ instruments that belong to the school

  • Non-consumable textbooks

  • Athletic uniforms and equipment

  • Band uniforms and musical instruments which are property of the District

  • Any other property which belongs to SRVUSD

Retrieving personal belongings from our sites:

  • Adhere to your site’s specific plan for pickup

    • This will come to you directly from your site

  • Elementary schools

    • Student belongings, including contents of their desks, will be bagged and ready for you to pick up.

    • You will not be entering classrooms.

  • Middle and High Schools

    • You will retrieve your items personally

    • Students - bring your ID

    • Parents - Bring your student’s ID

    • Clear out lockers and PE lockers and take home locks that belong to you

      • Anything left in lockers after the end of the school year will be discarded

    • Medication has to be picked up by parents

Your safety and the safety of our staff remains our highest priority.  We ask your cooperation in ensuring that you adhere to all safety guidelines while returning to campuses during the drop off and pick up process, including:

  • Maintain social distancing by staying at least 6 feet apart from others at all times as much as possible.

  • Wear a mask when you are in the presence of others, in common areas, and when walking about campus.

Thank you for your patience in getting to this point. Watch for a communication from your site with specific procedures to facilitate a safe, organized check-out process.

One final note is that by now you have heard that the Board of Education has selected a finalist for the Superintendent’s position. Dr. John Malloy will take over on August 1st with Superintendent Schmitt delaying retirement and remaining on board through July 31st.

Continue to watch your email for important end of the year information. Updates for fall 2020 coming soon and much more. Stay safe.
