Update: SRVUSD Schools Open Thursday, Oct. 10th
Posted 10/9/19

Based on the most recent information we have from PG&E regarding the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS), all SRVUSD schools will be open tomorrow, Thursday, October 10. As of 1 p.m. today, PG&E has pushed back the shutoff to 8 p.m. tonight. Please keep in mind that, as we have seen, this information is fluid based on changing weather conditions. PG&E is making the decisions for its customers.

According to PG&E, over 800,000 Californians could be without power during this shutoff. In addition, PG&E is reporting that this shutoff is anticipated to be one of more possible shutoffs that may take place this year. As such, SRVUSD is viewing this event as an opportunity to learn how to manage future shutoffs.

As a reminder, SRVUSD elementary and middle schools are on conference scheduling this week. As of right now, none of our schools have been affected. Classes went smoothly at all school sites today. We thank everyone for their patience and support as we navigate this challenging situation.

The safety of our students and staff remains our first priority. We will continue to provide updated information as it becomes available to us. In areas impacted by outages, we do ask our community to be aware that traffic lights may not be operational. As always, please be patient and plan for possible traffic delays.

We recognize that some people may be unable to keep a device charged during the shutoff, so in the event of a power shutoff, we will be sending messages using our automated phone system in addition to sending by email. We apologize for the duplicate messages some may receive, but we know you understand that we need to reach out in as many ways as possible in order to reach as many families as possible. Updates are posted on our website homepage. Remember to follow us on Facebook and Twitter and if you have not already, please opt-in to receive emergency text messages from SRVUSD by texting “yes” to 67587.
